Clifford Michaels is the Assistant Director of Licensing at Emory’s Office of Technology Transfer, a Certified Licensing Professional (CLP™), and a Registered Technology Transfer Professional (RTTP™). In his role as Assistant Director, Cliff oversees the office’s marketing program, material and data transfer agreements, and office’s internship program as well as managing a portfolio of assets and licenses. Cliff has over ten years of experience in technology transfer and prior to joining the licensing team Cliff served in a variety of other roles within OTT ranging from marketing and communications to management of Emory’s patent portfolio. Cliff is an active member of the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM), volunteering with that organization’s strategic communications committee, and serves on the CLP standards, admissions, and recertification committee. Cliff regularly speaks about commercialization, technology transfer, and careers in intellectual property and licensing at Emory and events around Georgia. Cliff received his Doctorate in Neuroscience from Emory University in 2007 with his doctoral research focusing on the impact of early-life stress on endogenous opioid systems and behavioral measures of reward. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience from Lafayette College in Easton, PA.
