Arctic Front & PVAC

Langberg, J

The Arctic Front® catheter was designed to simplify the ablation of pulmonary veins and reduce procedural time in the treatment of atrial fibrillation. The design of the catheter allows for simple anatomical placement at the targeted pulmonary vein and provides enhanced safety. This technology was licensed to Biosense Webster, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson Company. It has also been sub-licensed to Medtronic and the Arctic Font® is currently being sold by Medtronic Cryocath LP.

The Pulmonary Vein Ablation Catheter® (PVAC) is a minimally invasive device used to treat atrial fibrillation. The device is a multi-electrode catheter which is used to map, ablate and verify isolation of the pulmonary veins. The single catheter design for mapping, ablating and confirming isolation reduces the risk of complications and streamlines the procedure by eliminating the need for elaborate mapping and imaging technology. This technology was licensed to Biosense Webster, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson Company. It has also been sub-licensed to Medtronic and the Arctic Font® is currently being sold by Medtronic Ablation Frontiers LLC.
