OTT has collected quarterly and annual metrics that provide a clear view of our activities. We then visualized that data through accessible charts and tables. These charts and tables reveal how our work benefits OTT as well as our partners, faculty, and entrepreneurs.

US Patent Applications

OTT is responsible for pursuing patent protection, as appropriate, for inventions that get disclosed by our researchers, clinicians, and personnel. This graph, and companion tables, show the number of Provisional, Standard, and other patent types that get filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office annually.

Applications by Continent

OTT often pursues patent protection for Emory inventions in countries outside the US. This graph, and companion table, show the number and percentage of patents filed in various jurisdictions across the globe by continent since FY2000.

Issued US Patents

It can take a number of years, but patent applications get examined by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and some of them are allowed or issued. This graph, and companion tables, show the annual number of patents issued by the USPTO to Emory and to Emory and other joint owners of the patent rights.
